Karen's story: One afternoon my friends and I were hanging out at my house. We decided to drop a hit of acid it and smoke some pot. While we were smoking, strange things started happening. I looked around the room and everyone was speaking like Mickey Mouse. I couldn't talk at all. My whole face felt numb and I couldn't feel or close my mouth. We went back inside my house to watch a movie and I got sick all over my living room floor. The telephone started ringing. My probation officer was on the line letting me know that he was on his way to my house.

I started flipping out because I didn't look top-notch and I couldn't speak very well. By this time the acid had hit its peak and I was really out of it. I thought that everyone was out to "get" me. My probation officer pulled into my driveway about ten minutes later and everyone ran out of my house, but, by the grace of god, I did not go to jail. I somehow pulled it together and my probation officer didn't realize I was high. After he left, it took me hours to come down off of my high. That was the worst day of my life! I have never gotten high since. I am a happier person because of that and because the Lord has helped me get through day by day.

Acid Facts:

An acid trip starts 30 to 90 minutes after ingestion and last anywhere between 6 and 9 hours.

LSD disrupts transmission of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that enables the brain to make sense of all scents, sights, and sounds that we experience.

The effects of tripping on acid are largely physical. They are: nausea, dizziness, dialated pupils, muscle weakness, rapid reflexes, loss of appetite, increased blood pressure and increased body temp.
