HITT sites in Alachua County
Established in 2003, Hoggetowne Middle School is a charter school located in Gainesville, Florida, educating over one-hundred 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
A multi-purpose campus serving at-risk and vocational students from Alachua County secondary schools in a non-traditional education structure. Several different student populations are served through the Center's special programs including ACCEPT (Alachua County Continuing Education for Pregnancy Teens), OMEGA (dropout retrieval), and VIP (Vocationally Integrated Program). In support of the district's mission, Loften High School has developed a school mission statement. This mission statement was developed in the early 1990's and has been revisited each year. Our mission has not changed, nor has our faculty and staff's commitment.
We work as a team to develop responsible learners, in a supportive environment utilizing a partnership of home, school and community.
Our school is a 174 acre multi-purpose campus, serving several different program areas including high school and post secondary vocational programs. Dropout Prevention, Adult Education (ABE, Pre-GED, GED), ESOL and Adult Handicapped. We have three high school evening satellite programs, as well as other satellite classes scattered throughout our county. Our total population tops out at 1,800 with ages between 2 weeks in our child-care center, to over 80 in some of our computer classes! The diversity is wonderful! We are unique and very proud of this characteristic.

disruptive students that have committed expulsion type offences. Mission
Statement: We, in partnership with family and community, are committed to
providing our students a positive, stimulating, and safe learning environment
that promotes the development of individual responsibility, acceptable social

School program is totally committed to the school's mission. Our philosophy
is to provide each student with an individualized, highly structured, behavior
management system which nurtures and emphasizes the development of academic
competency, social responsibility, and career wareness. Our program utilizes
a variety of flexible academic scheduling techniques which coincide with
district requirements for pupil progression. The program provides competency

and interactive learning experiences, these courses accommodate individual
learning styles and offer options for accelerated learning with independent

students to interact socially and vocationally through service learning,
volunteer community service and on the job training.
