The Hippodrome Improvisational Teen Theatre Program was created in 1984 to provide teens with a way to creatively explore their attitudes about such serious life issues as alcohol and substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and HIV/AIDS. Since that time, HITT has provided over 30,000 teens with the resources to make positive choices necessary to protect them from addiction, violence and mental health problems. .

HITT is a prevention and intervention program targeting 100% at-risk youth from diverse backgrounds and ethnic populations, primarily economically disadvantaged, underserved and minority youth. The program's overall goal is to provide participants with a sense that they can succeed and to furnish them with the skills and knowledge necessary to resist high-risk behaviors.
