“Elf Academy: The Musical” at Hoggetowne
Dec 9, 2011HITT teens from Hoggetowne Middle School performed an original production of Elf Academy: The Musical for their peers on the 9th of December. Written and directed by HITT instructors Nicholas Hrutkay and Gabrielle Byam, the students rehearsed the musical for three weeks in preparation to tour to local schools for the holiday season.
The piece centers on Ellie the Elf and her quest for friendship at Elf Academy. Along the way she becomes tempted to try marijuana for the first time from her new found “friend” Frosty. As her life spirals out of control from drug addiction, Ellie discovers how weed has changed her relationships, personal habits, and activities she enjoyed doing, such as gingerbread sculpting. With a “motivational speech” from Santa and love from her family, she overpowers the spell marijuana has over her in time to celebrate Christmas drug-free!
